Using SyncTV

Get Started

Set up your TV and get your first picture on screen.

Set up my SyncTV for the first time
  1. Rez your SyncTV and give it a moment to load.
  2. If you already have a Stream you want this TV to use, choose Use Existing. Choose Create New only when you want a separate Stream and your plan has room for one.
  3. Touch the TV and choose CAST.
  4. Open the private link SyncTV gives you.
  5. Choose the browser tab, app, window, or screen you want to share.
  6. On Broadcast Control, turn on Include audio in the SyncTV broadcast when you want viewers to hear the source.
  7. When the browser share-selection window opens, also turn on its audio option — usually Share tab audio or Share system audio, depending on what you are sharing. Both audio choices must allow audio for sound to reach SyncTV viewers.
For everyday use: CAST is the normal way to start sharing from your TV.
Should I choose Use Existing or Create New?

Use Existing connects this TV to a Stream already on your account. This is usually best when you are adding another TV to an existing setup.

Create New gives the TV its own Stream so it can be used separately, as long as your plan has an available Stream.

If you are only trying to fix a temporary problem, use the troubleshooting steps first. You usually do not need to create a new Stream.
Using SyncTV

C1 vs S1

C1 and S1 are the same SyncTV experience with a different front-glass look.

What is the difference between C1 and S1?
  • S1 — Dark Glass. S1 uses the darker front-glass appearance.
  • C1 — Light Glass. C1 uses the lighter front-glass appearance.

The TV software, controls, Broadcast features, sound controls, TV Access, update system, and supported customer features are the same on both styles. There is no feature advantage to choosing C1 or S1.

Choose the style you like. The updater-ready replacement package includes both C1 and S1 so you can use the appearance that fits your room or build.
How can I check which TV style I have?

Touch the TV and open SETTINGS → ABOUT TV. The TV shows its style as S1 (Dark Glass) or C1 (Light Glass).

ABOUT TV also shows the TV Location, software version, current status, and whether the Update Service is ready. This is useful information if SyncTV Support asks about your TV.

Can I use C1 and S1 on the same account?

Yes. C1 and S1 use the same SyncTV software and account features. Your normal plan, Stream, Broadcast, and Viewer Pool limits still apply no matter which glass style you use.

Using SyncTV

Use Your TV

The everyday controls on the current C1/S1 TV package.

What do the main TV controls do?
  • CAST — start sharing to the Broadcast currently selected for this TV.
  • BROADCASTS — change which Broadcast this TV watches or rename the selected Broadcast.
  • POWER — turn only this TV screen on or off.
  • SOUND — turn sound on or mute only this physical TV.
  • RELOAD — refresh this TV when the picture is frozen or stuck.
  • SETTINGS — open TV Location, TV Access, Connection, About TV, and Reset TV.
You can still open the TV controls while a Broadcast is playing. You do not need to end the Broadcast just to change the TV.
Choose or rename the Broadcast this TV uses

Open BROADCASTS. The TV shows the Broadcast it is currently using.

  • CHANGE — choose a different Broadcast for this TV. This changes only this physical TV, even while a Broadcast is active.
  • RENAME — change the name of the selected Broadcast everywhere on your SyncTV account. Use names that are easy to recognize, such as Living Room, Kitchen, Kids, Bedroom, or Downstairs.

After you assign a different Broadcast, the TV follows that Broadcast instead of forcing every TV on your account to show the same thing.

Set a TV Location

Open SETTINGS → TV LOCATION and enter a label such as Living Room, Bedroom, Kitchen, or Upstairs.

TV Location helps you recognize the physical TV inside SyncTV. It does not rename the Second Life object.

Turn sound on or mute only one TV

Open SOUND and choose SOUND ON or MUTE.

The choice applies only to that physical TV. Other TVs showing the same Broadcast are not changed. Your TV remembers the sound choice through normal power off/on use.

Example: the Living Room TV can have sound while a Kitchen TV shows the same Broadcast muted.
Use Reload for a frozen or stuck picture

Choose RELOAD when the TV picture stops updating, stays blank after it should be playing, or Shared Media appears stuck.

Reload refreshes and wakes the TV screen without making you reset the TV or create a new connection.

What is inside Settings?
  • TV LOCATION — label where the TV is.
  • TV ACCESS — choose who can CAST or use full TV controls.
  • CONNECTION — open the portal, view the pairing code, or check TV status.
  • ABOUT TV — view the TV style, TV Location, software version, status, and Update Service.
  • RESET TV — create a brand-new TV/Broadcast identity and pairing code.
Do not use Reset TV just to switch to a different Broadcast. Use BROADCASTS → CHANGE instead.
Can I use more than one TV?

Yes. You can have multiple TVs. Each TV can be assigned to a Broadcast independently, and each TV has its own sound choice.

How many separate things you can show at the same time depends on the Streams and simultaneous Broadcasts included with your plan.

Using SyncTV

TV Access

Give other people only the TV access they need without sharing your private account controls.

What is the difference between CAST access and full TV controls?
  • CAST access — lets that person start a CAST to this TV's selected Broadcast.
  • Full TV controls — includes CAST and also lets that person change this TV's Broadcast, turn sound on or mute it, and reload the screen.
Private account controls stay private. TV Access does not give another person your My Account, plan, payment, or billing access.
Give access to a specific person
  1. Open SETTINGS → TV ACCESS.
  2. Choose ADD CAST for CAST-only access or ADD FULL for full TV controls.
  3. Paste the avatar key requested by the TV.
  4. Use VIEW LIST to review saved individual access.
  5. Use REMOVE when you no longer want that person to have TV access.
Use Second Life group access

Set the TV object to the Second Life group you want to use, then open SETTINGS → TV ACCESS.

  • GROUP CAST — members wearing the TV's active group tag can CAST.
  • GROUP FULL — members wearing the TV's active group tag can use the full TV controls described above.

The person must be actively wearing the same group tag as the TV when they touch it. Simply belonging to the group is not enough.

Using SyncTV

Broadcast

Start sharing, control your source audio, pause privately, switch what you are showing, and use the Broadcast selected for each TV.

Start a Broadcast from my TV
  1. Touch the TV and choose CAST.
  2. CAST opens for the Broadcast currently selected on that physical TV.
  3. Open the private browser page SyncTV gives you.
  4. Choose the browser tab, app/window, or screen you want to share.
  5. Turn on Include audio in the SyncTV broadcast when you want viewers to hear the source.
  6. In the browser share-selection window, also turn on Share tab audio or Share system audio when that option is available. The Broadcast Control switch alone cannot add audio if the browser did not share an audio track.
  7. Keep the CAST page open while you are broadcasting.
  8. Choose End Broadcast when you are finished.
Privacy reminder: viewers can see what is inside the source you chose to share, including notifications that appear inside that source.
Make sure viewers can hear my Broadcast

SyncTV audio has two separate permissions, and both need to allow audio:

  1. On Broadcast Control, turn on Include audio in the SyncTV broadcast.
  2. When your browser opens the screen-share selection window, choose the source you want and turn on its audio option — usually Share tab audio for a browser tab or Share system audio when your browser offers it for a screen.
  3. Start sharing and confirm that the source itself is playing sound.
  4. If you are already live and need to change the audio choice, use Apply Audio Change or Change Source on Broadcast Control. Your browser opens the source picker again so you can confirm the audio option.
Important: turning on audio only on the Broadcast page is not enough if audio was left off in the browser share-selection window. Likewise, the browser can share audio but viewers will not hear it if Include audio in the SyncTV broadcast is off.
Keep a shared browser tab quiet on my computer

When you are sharing a browser tab, use Mute shared browser tab on this computer if you do not want that tab playing through your own speakers.

Leave Include audio in the SyncTV broadcast on when you still want viewers to hear the tab through SyncTV.

Browser tabs only: this SyncTV local-mute option does not mute a desktop app, app window, or Entire Screen share on your computer. For those sources, use the app or your computer's volume controls if you want local silence.
Pause without ending my Broadcast

Choose Privacy when you want to temporarily hide picture and sound. Viewers see the SyncTV Be Right Back screen.

Choose Resume when you are ready to continue.

Switch to another tab, app, or screen

Choose Change Source, then select the new tab, app/window, or screen you want to share. You do not need to end your Broadcast first.

If you switch between a browser tab and another type of source, check the audio controls again. The built-in local-mute option is available only for shared browser tabs.

Why did SyncTV ask if I am still streaming?

During a long Broadcast, SyncTV may ask if you want to keep going. Choose Keep Streaming when you want to continue. If you are finished, end the Broadcast normally.

Open Broadcast from the website

You can open the Broadcast page directly when you want the web controls.

Using SyncTV

TV Updates

Current updater-ready C1/S1 TVs can receive future SyncTV improvements without replacing the whole TV each time.

What does the SyncTV Updater do?

The SyncTV Updater installs an approved TV software update on an updater-ready C1 or S1.

Before it starts, the updater checks that you have the latest updater. It then finds eligible nearby TVs owned by the same avatar, updates them one at a time, checks that each TV is ready, and keeps your normal TV settings.

You do not need to know a software version number. Always use the newest updater SyncTV sends you.
Get the latest SyncTV Updater from My Account
  1. Open My Account.
  2. Open Streaming Setup and choose Manage.
  3. Choose Send Me a SyncTV Updater.
  4. Check your Second Life inventory for the delivered updater.

If you request another copy immediately, SyncTV may ask you to wait a few minutes because a copy was just sent.

Update one or more TVs
  1. Rez the newest SyncTV Updater close to the C1/S1 TVs you want to update.
  2. Wait for SyncTV Updater Ready — Touch to update your TV.
  3. Touch the updater once.
  4. SyncTV checks for eligible TVs owned by you.
  5. If more than one eligible TV is nearby, the updater works through them one at a time and shows its progress.
  6. When everything finishes successfully, the updater tells you the TVs are ready to use and removes itself.
Do not delete the updater while it is working. Let it finish or tell you what to do next.
What happens to my settings during an update?

Normal TV settings are kept during an ordinary update, including your TV Location, selected Broadcast, sound choice, access choices, and connection information.

The goal is to improve the TV without making you set everything up again.

What happens if an update cannot finish?

SyncTV is designed to avoid leaving the TV halfway updated. If an update cannot finish safely, the updater attempts to restore that TV's previous working version.

When multiple TVs are being updated, each TV is handled separately. A safely restored TV does not undo a TV that already updated successfully. If SyncTV cannot confirm that a TV was restored, it stops instead of continuing to change more TVs and tells you to check that TV.

Can my older SyncTV use the updater?

Older SyncTVs delivered before the new update-ready C1/S1 package do not contain the built-in update support needed for safe in-place updates.

Those TVs need a one-time free updater-ready replacement TV. After you move to the replacement TV, normal future updates can happen in place.

Older local-only TV settings may need to be set again on the replacement. Do not delete your old TV until your replacement is set up and working the way you want.
For customers

Recent Customer Updates

Only changes that affect how you use SyncTV or My Account are listed here.

Oct 1, 2026 — SyncTV Max and simpler My Account sign-in
  • SyncTV Max adds Tankflix TV to the matching SyncTV tier. Starter Max keeps 1 Broadcast / 5 viewers, Plus Max keeps 2 / 10, and Pro Max keeps 3 / 15.
  • Max purchases are temporarily unavailable. Its current price is planned prices of $18.14/month or $174.14/year. Other Max choices appear only when they are available for purchase.
  • Included Tankflix TV setup is handled in My Account. Activation & Setup shows the included service and guides you through any remaining Tankflix TV setup without selling you a second TFX Media Addon: TV subscription.
  • Unfinished Media Setup now reminds you after login. After optional web sign-in setup and the welcome tour are finished or skipped, My Account opens the media activation prompt for current TFX Media Addon: Plex, TFX Media Addon: TV, or TFX Media Addon: Combo access that still needs setup. Finish Later hides it for the current login only, and it stops appearing once setup is complete.
  • My Account now starts with a simple account choice. Choose Second Life User Login if you use Tankflix or SyncTV in Second Life, or Tankflix User Login if you signed up for Tankflix online.
Sep 29, 2026 — Easier Plex activation and renewal continuity
  • Plex setup now shows when your invitation is waiting for acceptance. Open the existing Plex invitation email and accept it; do not request another invitation just because setup is waiting.
  • My Account checks the existing Plex invitation for you. After Plex confirms access, the setup status changes to Active automatically; you can also choose Check Plex Access.
  • Natural Plex expiration keeps the existing connection when possible. Instead of making you reconnect Plex from the beginning, SyncTV keeps the existing relationship in place when it can so a later successful renewal can restore normal access more smoothly.
Sep 26, 2026 — Smoother 1080p sharing and Broadcast recovery
  • Browser-tab sharing is capped at up to 1080p. SyncTV favors a stable picture and frame rate instead of pushing an oversized capture.
  • SyncTV can recover from some stalled browser-tab shares automatically. Temporary connection issues can also recover the Share control without making you rebuild the Broadcast.
  • If a Broadcast still looks stuck, use the normal recovery choices in Broadcast Control or restart the share.
Sep 24, 2026 — Monthly and Yearly Media Service choices
  • TFX Media Addon: Plex, TFX Media Addon: TV, and TFX Media Addon: Combo can show Monthly or Yearly USD choices when they are available to your account.
  • Your account price is checked automatically. Active SyncTV members receive the current member price; customers without active SyncTV see the standard price.
  • Eligible Media Service upgrades can start during the current paid period, while lower-service changes wait until the current paid period ends.
Sep 21, 2026 — Online account and Legacy service improvements
  • Focused My Account areas. Billing, Services, Activation & Setup, Streaming Setup, Help, and Settings now have clearer jobs so it is easier to find the right control.
  • Legacy customers keep Streaming Setup access. Eligible Legacy-only accounts can still reach the streaming tools that apply to them.
  • Legacy renewal is easier to find. Eligible Legacy renewal is available from Billing, and the Overview can take you directly to the renewal choice.
  • Verified Legacy customers can add SyncTV online. Second Life-linked Legacy customers who do not yet have current SyncTV can start an eligible SyncTV plan online in USD.
  • Friends & Family notices are cleaner. Complimentary Friends & Family Standard accounts with no recurring balance no longer receive renewal reminders for a renewal they do not need to make.
Sep 19, 2026 — USD automatic renewal and end-of-cycle cancellation
  • Regular eligible USD SyncTV renews automatically. After a successful USD payment approves the saved payment method, future regular SyncTV renewal continues automatically until you cancel.
  • No separate AutoPay switch. Normal USD automatic renewal is part of the active eligible USD subscription instead of a separate optional toggle.
  • Cancel Service ends at your paid-through date. Cancellation does not shut the service off immediately; access stays active through the current billing-cycle end and no later renewal charge is made.
  • L$ remains manual. Linden Dollars cannot be auto-debited, so L$ customers continue to renew manually.
  • Legacy USD renewal stays one-time. Protected Legacy TFX Media Addon: Plex/Tankflix/Combo USD renewal does not become automatic renewal.
Sep 13, 2026 — Clearer Broadcast audio controls
  • Two audio permissions. Broadcast Control uses Include audio in the SyncTV broadcast, and the browser share-selection window has its own Share tab audio or Share system audio choice. Both must allow audio for viewers to hear the source.
  • Local mute for shared browser tabs. Use Mute shared browser tab on this computer when you want viewers to keep hearing supported tab audio without hearing that same tab through your own computer speakers.
  • Browser tabs only. The SyncTV local-mute option does not mute desktop apps, app windows, or Entire Screen sharing on your computer. Use the app or your computer's volume controls for those sources.
  • Audio controls stay understandable while you are live. The Broadcast page keeps the source-specific guidance visible so you can tell what each option will do.
Sep 12, 2026 — Media Services, C1/S1 help, and safer setup
  • C1 and S1 are easier to tell apart. S1 is the Dark Glass style and C1 is the Light Glass style. They use the same SyncTV software, controls, features, and update path.
  • About TV. SETTINGS → ABOUT TV shows the TV style, TV Location, software version, status, and Update Service.
  • Legacy renewal was added to My Account. Eligible Legacy customers can renew with L$ or a protected one-time USD payment without starting a second current media subscription. Current renewal controls are under Billing.
  • Included with Legacy. Current TFX Media Addon: Plex, TFX Media Addon: TV, or TFX Media Addon: Combo choices that are already covered by Legacy access are marked as included instead of offering an invalid second purchase.
  • Safer Media Setup. Setup Complete is shown only after SyncTV confirms that the media access is actually active.
  • Missing Tankflix account recovery. If Finish Setup confirms that a saved Tankflix account no longer exists, SyncTV can create the replacement account automatically instead of asking you to create it manually.
  • Movie and show requests now open your request portal. Media Services uses the Seerr request portal assigned to your active Plex/Tankflix access instead of a separate SyncTV request form.
Sep 11, 2026 — New C1/S1 TV controls and safer updates

The current C1/S1 TV package brings the largest customer TV-control refresh so far:

  • Broadcasts belong to each physical TV. Choose which Broadcast a TV watches and switch it without ending the Broadcast.
  • Broadcast naming. Rename Broadcasts to familiar names such as Living Room, Kitchen, Kids, Bedroom, or Downstairs.
  • TV Location. Give each TV a location label without renaming the Second Life object.
  • Controls stay available while watching. You can open the TV menu while media is playing.
  • Per-TV sound. Use SOUND ON or MUTE on one TV without changing other TVs on the same Broadcast, and the TV remembers the choice through normal power cycling.
  • Reload. Refresh a frozen or stuck TV picture without resetting the TV.
  • Clearer Settings. TV Location, TV Access, Connection, About TV, and Reset TV are grouped together.
  • TV Access. Give a person CAST-only access or full TV controls, or use the TV's Second Life group. Private My Account and billing controls are never shared through TV Access.
  • Smarter Viewer Pool counting. The same avatar using multiple TVs is counted as one person in the Viewer Pool instead of being counted once for every TV.
  • Updater-ready TVs. Current C1/S1 replacement TVs can receive approved future updates without replacing the whole TV each time.
  • Multi-TV updater. One updater can work through multiple eligible same-owner TVs nearby, one at a time.
  • Settings are kept. Ordinary updates preserve your normal TV setup, and the updater attempts to restore the previous working version if an update cannot finish safely.
  • Older-TV replacement path. TVs delivered before update-ready support need a one-time free updater-ready replacement before they can use future in-place updates.
Not part of this update: Picture-in-Picture/MultiView is not included in the current C1/S1 customer TV package.
Sep 10, 2026 — More ways to pay in My Account
  • You can choose Monthly or Yearly separately from the payment option offered for an eligible checkout.
  • Eligible checkouts can offer Linden Dollars (L$) or USD.
  • USD renewal rules were updated on Sep 19. See Billing Help for the current automatic-renewal and cancellation rules.
  • When a plan change starts later, My Account shows the price and start date before you continue.
Sep 7, 2026 — My Account is easier to navigate
  • Your plan, payment information, Rewards Balance, Media Services, streaming setup, sign-in choices, and support are easier to find from My Account.
  • Help & Support stays available from your account when you need to send a request or return to an existing conversation.
Aug 27, 2026 — Add screenshots to support requests
  • You can add a screenshot to a support request when a picture helps explain what you are seeing.
  • Your support conversations remain available from Help & Support in My Account.
Aug 22, 2026 — Easier Broadcast controls
  • Privacy lets you temporarily hide picture and sound without ending your Broadcast.
  • Resume brings your Broadcast back when you are ready.
  • Change Source lets you switch the tab, app, window, or screen you are sharing without starting over.
My Account

Manage My Account

Use the focused My Account areas to manage billing, services, setup, streaming, settings, and support.

What can I do in My Account?
  • Overview — see the most important information and shortcuts for the services on your account.
  • Billing / Subscriptions & Billing — manage SyncTV renewal, cancellation, eligible Legacy renewal, billing details, and transaction history.
  • Services — add or change eligible TFX Media Addon: Plex, TFX Media Addon: TV, or TFX Media Addon: Combo service and open movie/show request options.
  • Activation & Setup — finish Plex/Tankflix account setup and check whether your media access is ready.
  • Streaming Setup — see your Streams, plan limits, TV setup, and request the latest SyncTV Updater.
  • Settings — manage account and sign-in choices.
  • Help — open this Help Guide, send a support request, and check your support conversations.
Change my SyncTV plan

Open Manage Plan to compare Standard, Plus, Pro, and any SyncTV Max choices currently available to your account. You can also choose Monthly or Yearly when that billing cycle is open for the plan.

Eligible upgrades can start right away after the difference for the remaining paid period is shown and paid. A downgrade or billing-cycle change that begins later stays scheduled for the next applicable billing boundary, and My Account shows the timing before you continue.

What is SyncTV Max?

SyncTV Max combines a SyncTV streaming tier with Tankflix TV in one membership. The streaming limits stay the same as the matching base tier:

  • SyncTV Starter Max: 1 simultaneous Broadcast and 5 viewers. Max purchases are temporarily unavailable at planned prices of $18.14/month or $174.14/year.
  • SyncTV Plus Max: 2 simultaneous Broadcasts and 10 viewers. This Max choice is shown only when it is available for purchase.
  • SyncTV Pro Max: 3 simultaneous Broadcasts and 15 viewers. This Max choice is shown only when it is available for purchase.

Max includes Tankflix TV, so you should not start a second TFX Media Addon: TV subscription for the same account. If included Tankflix TV still needs setup, My Account sends you to Activation & Setup.

Where is my Rewards Balance?

Your Rewards Balance appears in My Account. The same Tankflix Rewards balance is used across eligible services, so you do not have to keep track of a separate SyncTV points balance.

Choose the right My Account sign-in

My Account begins with Choose Your Account so Second Life customers and online Tankflix customers do not have to sort through every sign-in method at once.

  • Second Life User Login: enter your Second Life username to receive a private 8-character sign-in code in-world. The code works once and expires after 10 minutes. If your account has secure web access, Email & Password and connected Google can also be available.
  • Tankflix User Login: enter the email connected to your online Tankflix account and receive a 6-digit email sign-in code. Email & Password and connected Google can also be available.

After you are signed in, open Sign-in & Security to manage the web sign-in and recovery choices available to your account.

My Account

Subscriptions & Billing

Understand USD automatic renewal, manual L$ renewal, cancellation, plan changes, and payment history.

How do USD and L$ renewal work?
  • Regular SyncTV service paid in USD: after a successful eligible USD payment, the approved payment method is saved and the service renews automatically until you cancel it.
  • Eligible current Media Services managed in My Account: current TFX Media Addon: Plex, TFX Media Addon: TV, or TFX Media Addon: Combo service paid through the SyncTV-managed USD subscription flow renews automatically until you schedule cancellation. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the already-paid period rather than removing access immediately, and Keep My Service is available when the service can still be retained.
  • Linden Dollars (L$): L$ cannot be charged automatically. Renew manually through an official SyncTV kiosk when your service is due.
  • Grandfathered Legacy Media USD renewal: a Legacy TFX Media Addon: Plex, TFX Media Addon: TV, or TFX Media Addon: Combo USD renewal is still a protected one-time payment. It does not turn on automatic renewal for that Legacy service.
There is no separate AutoPay on/off switch for normal USD SyncTV renewal. Automatic renewal is part of an eligible regular USD subscription after the payment method is approved.
How do I stop automatic USD renewal?

Open Subscriptions & Billing and choose Cancel Service for the SyncTV subscription you want to end.

Cancellation is end of the current billing cycle only. Your paid access stays active through the date already shown on your account, and SyncTV does not make another automatic renewal charge after that boundary.

If you change your mind before service ends, choose Keep My Service when that option is available.

Cancel Service does not end your paid access immediately. Plan changes are unavailable while the service is scheduled to end unless you keep the service first.
Choose Monthly or Yearly and L$ or USD

Your billing frequency and payment rail are separate choices when both are available:

  • Monthly or Yearly — choose the billing cycle offered for your SyncTV plan.
  • Linden Dollars (L$) or USD — choose the payment option offered for that checkout.

For regular eligible USD SyncTV service, completing the USD checkout also authorizes the saved payment method for future automatic renewal until you cancel the service. L$ remains manual.

What happens if I upgrade, downgrade, or change billing cycle?

An eligible upgrade can take effect right away after you pay the prorated difference shown at checkout. Downgrades and later-starting cycle changes remain scheduled for the next applicable billing boundary.

My Account shows the price and timing before you continue. If the service is already scheduled to cancel, keep the service first before making another plan change.

Pay with Linden Dollars in Second Life

Use an official SyncTV kiosk and follow the amount shown for your account. L$ renewal is manual because SyncTV cannot automatically debit Linden Dollars.

Do not pay twice. If SyncTV is still confirming a payment you already made, let that payment finish or use Help instead of paying again.
Review my payment history

Open Transaction History to review the SyncTV payment information available on your account.

Buy SyncTV for someone else

Use Gift SyncTV at an official kiosk before paying. Enter the recipient’s exact Second Life username, confirm the person, and follow the checkout amount shown.

My Account

Media Services

Set up and manage Plex, Tankflix TV, Combo, Legacy access, and movie/show requests.

What is the difference between TFX Media Addon: Plex, TFX Media Addon: TV, and TFX Media Addon: Combo?
  • TFX Media Addon: Plex — use supported Plex apps and devices.
  • TFX Media Addon: TV — web app access through the TFX Media Addon: TV website. It does not include a separate Tankflix TV device.
  • TFX Media Addon: Combo — includes both TFX Media Addon: Plex and TFX Media Addon: TV access.

If you have an active SyncTV Max membership, Tankflix TV is already included. My Account blocks a second TFX Media Addon: TV or overlapping TFX Media Addon: Combo purchase so you are not billed twice for the included service.

How much are current Media Services?

My Account verifies the price that applies to your account before checkout.

  • Active SyncTV member pricing: Plex $11.99/month or $115.10/year; Tankflix TV $11.99/month or $115.10/year; TFX Media Addon: Combo $19.99/month or $191.90/year.
  • Standard pricing without active SyncTV: Plex $15.99/month or $153.50/year; Tankflix TV $15.99/month or $153.50/year; Combo $23.99/month or $230.30/year.

Max customers already receive Tankflix TV with the Max membership, so the separate TFX Media Addon: TV price does not apply to that included access.

Finish setting up TFX Media Addon: Plex or TFX Media Addon: TV

If a current Media Service still needs activation, My Account now reminds you automatically after login. The media setup prompt waits until the optional web sign-in setup and welcome tour are finished or skipped, so the dialogs do not stack on top of each other. Choose Finish Later if you want to continue using My Account first; the reminder is deferred only for that login and can return the next time you sign in until setup is complete.

You can also open My Account → Activation & Setup at any time. When you see Finish Your Media Setup, open the guided setup and follow only the steps for the services currently on your account.

  • TFX Media Addon: Plex: enter the email for the Plex account that should receive access. SyncTV never asks for your Plex password. If setup says Waiting for Plex acceptance, the login reminder shows acceptance instructions instead of sending another invitation. Open the existing invitation email from Plex and accept it; My Account checks the existing invitation automatically and also offers Check Plex Access.
  • TFX Media Addon: TV: your TFX Media Addon: TV username is tied to your Second Life legacy name. Choose the TFX Media Addon: TV password you want to use.
  • TFX Media Addon: Combo: complete the TFX Media Addon: Plex and TFX Media Addon: TV steps in the same guided setup.

Choose Finish Setup on the final step. SyncTV saves the account details and activates the media access that belongs to your service.

You do not need to create a missing TFX Media Addon: TV account yourself. If Finish Setup confirms that the account does not exist, SyncTV creates it automatically. If the account already exists, SyncTV safely reconnects the existing account instead of creating a duplicate.
When does Media Setup say Complete?

In Activation & Setup, Media Setup Complete means SyncTV has confirmed that the media access is actually active. Saved email or username information by itself is not enough to mark setup complete.

If you see Media Setup Needs Verification, your saved details are still there, but SyncTV could not confirm the media service at that moment. Try Finish Setup again in a few minutes. You do not need to pay again.

Renew a grandfathered Legacy Media Service

If your account has eligible Legacy TFX Media Addon: Plex, Legacy TFX Media Addon: TV, or Legacy TFX Media Addon: Combo access, open My Account → Billing and use the Legacy renewal option shown for your service.

  • Legacy TFX Media Addon: Plex: L$3,799 or $9.99 USD.
  • Legacy TFX Media Addon: TV: L$3,799 or $9.99 USD.
  • Legacy TFX Media Addon: Combo: L$5,799 or $15.99 USD.

The USD option is a protected one-time payment and adds 30 days to that same Legacy service. It does not turn on automatic renewal for the Legacy service, replace your grandfathered L$ option, or change your SyncTV Standard/Plus/Pro dates.

If Legacy access already covers a current TFX Media Addon: Plex, TFX Media Addon: TV, or TFX Media Addon: Combo choice, that choice is shown as Included with Legacy instead of asking you to start a second overlapping subscription.

Check the Service active through date on your own Billing card. Different customers and different media services can have different renewal dates.
Request a movie or show

Open Media Services → Request a Movie or Show. SyncTV shows the request portal assigned to the media service on your account.

  • If you have TFX Media Addon: TV, use the Tankflix request choice shown there.
  • If you have TFX Media Addon: Plex, SyncTV uses your Plex assignment so you are not sent to the wrong request site.
  • If you have TFX Media Addon: Combo, you may see the applicable request choices for both services.

Use the request choice shown in My Account so your request goes to the service you actually have.

Add, change, or manage a Media Service

Open Services or Media Services in My Account to add or change eligible TFX Media Addon: Plex, TFX Media Addon: TV, or TFX Media Addon: Combo service and open content-request choices. Account activation/setup is handled separately under Activation & Setup, and renewals are handled under Billing.

Open Tankflix TV

If your account includes Tankflix TV, use the launch option in My Account or open the TFX Media Addon: TV website.

Using SyncTV

Quick Fixes

Try the simple steps first. If the problem continues, send us a support request from My Account.

My TV screen is blank or frozen
  1. Touch the TV and choose POWER → TURN ON.
  2. Give the screen a moment to load.
  3. Choose RELOAD to refresh a stuck picture.
  4. If the TV returns to the static SyncTV display image, click the TV screen itself once to activate the live Shared Media stream for you. Anyone watching with you may also need to click that TV screen once for themselves after the reload.
  5. Check Streaming Setup in My Account and BROADCASTS on the TV to make sure the TV is using the Stream/Broadcast you expect.
  6. If it is still blank, send a support request.
RELOAD does not end your Broadcast. It refreshes the TV display. If the static image is still showing afterward, clicking the screen is what re-enables the live stream for that viewer.
I have picture but no sound
  • Touch the TV, open SOUND, and make sure that physical TV is set to SOUND ON.
  • On Broadcast Control, make sure Include audio in the SyncTV broadcast is on.
  • In the browser share-selection window, make sure its audio option is also on — usually Share tab audio or Share system audio. You need both audio areas enabled.
  • Make sure the tab, app, window, or screen you chose actually has sound playing. Some source types do not offer shareable audio in every browser.
  • If you changed your source or audio choice while live, use Apply Audio Change or Change Source and confirm the browser audio option again.
  • Check your media volume in Second Life.
The Broadcast page cannot force audio into Second Life if the browser did not include an audio track in the screen-share window.
My sound is echoing or playing twice

If you hear the same sound twice, hear a delayed repeat, or someone says your Broadcast has echo audio, the sound is usually playing locally and through SyncTV at the same time.

  1. If you are sharing a browser tab, start here: keep Include audio in the SyncTV broadcast on, then turn on Mute shared browser tab on this computer. This keeps supported tab audio going to viewers while stopping that same tab from playing through your own speakers.
  2. Listen again in Second Life. If the echo is gone, leave the browser-tab local mute on while you continue your Broadcast.
  3. If you are sharing a desktop app, app window, or Entire Screen: the SyncTV browser-tab local-mute option does not control that source on your computer. Use the app or your computer's volume controls for local silence.
  4. If you still hear echo, check for another nearby SyncTV TV, browser window, or device playing the same Broadcast. Use the TV's MUTE control or close the extra playback.
  5. If you are using a microphone, make sure your speakers are not playing the Broadcast back into the microphone. Headphones can help when you need the microphone on.
  6. If both your shared audio and microphone are picking up the same sound, turn off one of those audio paths so the sound is sent only once.
  7. If the echo continues, end the Broadcast and start it again with only one playback source active.
Remember: Mute shared browser tab on this computer only controls local playback of a shared browser tab. Keep Include audio in the SyncTV broadcast on and keep the browser share-selection audio option on when viewers should hear the source. Turning either viewer-audio permission off can remove the sound from the Broadcast.
The updater does not find a TV ready to update
  • Make sure you are using the newest updater that SyncTV sent you.
  • Make sure the updater and the TV are owned by the same avatar.
  • Rez the updater close to the TV and try again.
  • If the TV is an older model delivered before updater-ready support, it needs the one-time free replacement TV first.
Media Setup cannot verify my access

If Media Services says it cannot verify setup, wait a few minutes and try Finish Setup again. Your saved account information is not lost just because the media service could not be checked at that moment.

Do not pay again just to retry setup. Setup and payment are separate steps.
My Broadcast looks stuck after I closed the browser

Open the Broadcast page again and follow the recovery option shown there. If an old Broadcast is still active, use End Active Broadcast when it is available, then start again.

My picture quality changed

SyncTV supports up to 1080p and adjusts the picture when the broadcaster’s connection, the viewer’s connection, or the shared source changes. Browser-tab sharing is capped at 1080p to favor stable playback and frame rate.

If a browser-tab share stalls, SyncTV can recover some stalled captures automatically. If the picture is still difficult to watch, close other heavy internet activity, use Change Source or restart the share, and use the normal Broadcast recovery options if needed.
